First posted January 2009. Post-dated now to remain on top.

I am a sovereign and free spiritual being currently inhabiting a human body. The universe is my home, in particular, at this time, this galaxy, and I acknowledge planet Earth as the homeland of Humanity, a free Humanity and a free Earth, responsible and self conscious.

I will add from Vissaeus about a good vision of Humans: "Responsible freedom of self-determination becoming truly self-confident and free. To unconditionally be responsible for yourself without being coerced by some other authority."

It's been a while...

I'm back from Memphis, after long waits and longer flights, courtesy of the latest snowstorms around Detroit. My luggage hasn't quite made it yet, but at least they'll bring it to the door, so that's not too bothersome.

It was great to see Sara and Logan after such a long time, though the cold weather kind of got to me at times. Northern England is positively more pleasant in that respect, LOL!

Now I'm tired (been up for 30 hours now), but I really want to wait until 9 or 10 before I go crash so the jet lag won't be too disruptive.

1. Of the fic you’ve written, which are you most proud of?

Harmonic Resolution, hands down.

2. Favorite tense (past/present/future)

This depends on the story to be told. Most of my fics are in past tense, and I am comfortable with that. But some (well, at least one) are in present tense, and that's fine, too. I can't imagine writing in future tense, but now that I've said that, I may well challenge myself, lol.

3. Favorite POV (first/second/third/etc)

Most of what I've written is in third, and a couple or so in first. I don't even know what my favourite one is. I guess it depends on the story, how it unfolds, etc.

4. What are some themes you love writing about?

Spiritual.

5. What inspires you to write?

The story that needs to be told.

6. Thoughts on critique

I very much welcome critique during the writing stage and towards the end of the writing stage. I pick and choose my alpha and beta readers by how much they know on a given subject, by how perceptive they are, by how honest they are. Once I post my fic, I honestly don't care about "critique" unless it's really constructive, which, to date, has not happened.

7. Create a character on the spot…. NOW!

She, who was a force to be reckoned with. She, who was honesty personified. She, who had fallen in love with a demon. She flailed. Big time. How the fuck can I be in love with a demon??? But deep inside, she knew her mission, and falling in love with a demon would only further her growth and power. She sighed deeply. And let go. Letting go was always a good thing.

8. Is there a character you love writing for the most? the least? why?

I adore writing Snape. And Hermione. And Lucius. Snape because I feel an affinity there. Hermione because she's simply awesome. And Lucius? Well, I can redeem him to my heart's content, can't I? ;)

9. A passage from a WIP

Her reply was drowned by a waiter bringing her pizza and salad. She concentrated on that for a couple of minutes before answering him.

“I am. And so are you, aren’t you?”

His smile was open; there was nothing fake about it. “I am.” He said it so softly it nearly escaped her in the ambient noise. Then he straightened and said, louder this time, “Do you live in London?”

“Yes. I left home as soon as I was old enough and somehow settled here.” Sigrun turned back to the food in front of her.

10. What are your strengths wrt writing?

I think my strength is minimalism. Though I'm aware that sometimes it's simply too minimalistic. I just don't like wasting words.

11. What are your weaknesses wrt writing?

Well, minimalism. Also, I see the world in a way that others don't see it, and I don't take that into account when writing.

12. What’s your favorite place for writing resources?

Books, Google, Thesaurus, Dictionary, people.

13. Who are your favorite writers?

That's a loaded question because I don't read much fiction. Soooo.... Jamie James, Peter Moon, Len Horowitz (don't even know if that's spelled correctly), and then there is Jane Austen for comfort reading.

I've had the most delightful afternoon. dreamy_dragon73 and I met at a wonderful café in Munich, shared lunch, talked, giggled, laughed, snickered, gossiped exchanged views. Then we walked around the English Garden, visited a tiny, lovely Christmas market, all the while doing more of talking, giggling, laughing, snickering, laughing some more, and generally enjoying ourselves. Tremendously. In spite of quite a number of awesome days already this year, today was definitely a highlight-worthy kind of awesome day. Let's repeat that experience, Dreamy!

Six-Sentences Sunday

Six Sentences Sunday: Each Sunday, post six sentences from a writing project — published, submitted, in progress, for your cat — whatever.

“Thank goodness you’re home,” he greeted his wife as he walked through the door and saw her sitting at the table, dumbstruck, staring at the wireless. “Trudl.” He rushed to her side, cursing the oath he’d made not to say a word until it would become inevitable. “It’s not true.” He put his arms around her shoulders. Shoulders that had become bony over the past year.

Same story, timeline before last Sunday's, by about 6 months.

I've been a tad busy apparently. That's the only explanation I have that September passed me by completely without me noticing, and October did a similar thing aside from the week traveling to Vienna and back (Dudamel!). And I just realised that tomorrow, half of November will be gone, too. At least I've been productive.

- 16 rows left on sweater of doom Dorkboy's sweater I started, oh, maybe 15 months ago, then was really peeved a year ago because I miscalculated the stitches for the sleeves, which then remained dormant until gardengirl6 visited last August, during which I finally gathered enough courage to frog both sleeves, and then put the project aside again. Those 16 rows, plus about 6 inches of front for a v-neck, and it'll be done.

- 2 sleeves, a bottom border and the button band left to complete aura!cardigan for me, which I knitted in unspun Icelandic wool and dyed as I went, because I could, because it's made up entirely of diamond shapes. It has more hues of blue than I knew existed. I'm very excited.

- 6 pages, 2 global find/replace acts, and a final spellcheck, and the translation will be sent off to the author. It's been a worthy and exhilarating project, though I'll be seriously relieved once I send it off.

Shamelessly nicked from juno_magic.

Each Sunday, post six sentences from a writing project — published, submitted, in progress, for your cat — whatever.

Ludwig gurgled and smiled and raised his arm towards Erich, who instantly dropped the sofa with an embarrassedly muttered “Excuse me a moment” to run towards the woman and child.

“Ludwig, my prince!” He took the baby from Ragna’s arms and, after a hug, danced with him towards the sofa. “Look what I got for us. You like it?”

Ludwig smiled, then laughed, and suddenly, for everyone present, the world was all right.

This from an early chapter of original work in progress.

In honour of All Hallow's Eve, I'm inviting trick-or-treaters to my LJ 'door.' Comment "Trick or Treat" to this post and... well, you know the drill. Treats can be anything that strikes my fancy (pics of your fave actors or pairings, one sentence fics, graphics, a few words why I'm glad to have you on my flist, etc. etc.). I remember doing this last year and loving it. The more "houses" to visit the more fun it'll be, so go ahead, open your journal and help spread the fun!

If you're not an LJ member, please sign with the name I know you as. Thank you.

My soul feels complete tonight. Vienna Phil, Dudamel, and Beethoven's 9th are an impeccable combination. Nothing could be more perfect.

Of course, we started the day by visiting Mozart's grave. That was a pretty perfect start to the active part of the day. Partly because it followed a most awesome breakfast.

You didn't think I wouldn't bore you with visual evidence, did you?Collapse )

September just sort of disappeared without me even noticing, and I've just realised we're half-way through October already...

I spent two days driving 1k miles, and today, Little Man and I enjoyed strolling around in weather that is truly fit for angels traveling.

Tonight, we're tired in a good way, thoroughly musicked (we spent a couple of hours at the Haus der Musik this afternoon), and plan on spending the next hour or three just chilling at the hotel. All in all, it's been a most beautiful day in every way imaginable.

Some visual proof of what we saw todayCollapse )

I'm glad we walked so much because the food is still food here, with far fewer additives and poisons than in some other places, and honest-to-goodness cheese cake can be found pretty much everywhere. Nope, I won't tell you how many pieces I had. Oh, and there is apple strudel as well, of course. And Palatschinken. And coffee. :D
